Oh My God
Playing quality and extremely appealing rock music, The Pretty Reckless performed to a house full of adoring Cleveland fans. In case you haven’t listened, the band’s music has a qualitative and unique edge with a mixture of angst and passion in the lyrics and melodies. And, Lead Singer Taylor Momsen has a rich, sultry voice that blends beautifully with the hauntingly killer tunes. Opening with Follow Me Down, the band played classic hits like Heaven Knows to new favorites from the band’s wildly successful latest album Who You Selling For released in October of this year. If you’re not a fan of The Pretty Reckless yet, sample a few songs on Amazon. I promise, you won’t be sorry. Taylor’s voice is alluring, the music captivating.

Light Us Up
Entering the concert hall, I expected or assumed that the audience would be comprised of mostly younger female fans from Taylor’s Gossip Girl acting days, but I was quite mistaken. Interestingly, though, the audience for The Pretty Reckless consisted mostly of couples and guys in their 30s, 40s, and beyond. Most people in their 30s or better tend to be picky about the music they listen to and the concerts they attend, as their musical tastes are rooted. The point here is that the attendees of The Pretty Reckless show in Cleveland were not fickle fans; they were truly digging the tunes. This mix and age range of attendees speaks volumes about the quality of the band’s music. People who know good songs when they hear them, were loving The Pretty Reckless that night.

Beautiful Reserve
The Pretty Reckless concert was music forward. Surprising discovery number two: the show was less about image and all about the music. Although Taylor Momsen wore a wicked cool outfit, she’s not a screaming, in-your-face, attention hungry performer. She has an almost quieter, demure power. Taylor covered her face with her hair during a good portion on the concert, as if to say, ‘It’s not about me, listen to the music!’ And, that’s exactly what the audience did. Our ears, minds, and souls gobbled up the superior sound that The Pretty Reckless gave to us that night, and allowed the tunes to reverberate within us for days after the performance.

  1. A “must add” to my original review. I was able to listen to some of the noted songs and Taylor Momsen has an amazing voice! With only a few exceptions I REALLY enjoyed listening to the music.
